Korg Delta Advice Needed

Korg Delta Advice Needed

2016-03-15 by paul.rak@...

Hi.

I just bought a Korg Delta as a project.

It has a few issues..

1. None of the A# keys work - Assuming this is Top Octave Chip?

2. Zero output on LP filter - replace orange caps & chips (kit on ebay)?

3. Resonance control has no effect - fixed by solution to (2)?

4. Broken headphones output - new socket?

5. Cosmetic issues inc broken slider, missing slider caps etc

Apart from this, it works! I got it for a song, under the understanding that I wasn't going to break it up.. I'm not.

Any advice gratefully accepted.. this is my second attempt at posting this message...

I just took a quick look at Ebay and saw that there are several Delta-specific replacement parts for sale. As for tracking down the specific locations of the problems, I recommend direct and simple troubleshooting. If you have an amplifier or ghetto blaster, you can use that as a signal tracer and follow the signal path to the point where it stops working. P ossibly right to a bad component, broken wire, or soldering problem (hey, it happens) . Never underestimate the value of a close visual inspection. You could check the outputs of the top octave chip, might find it is a bad divider chip. That narrows it down quite a bit and doesn't require waiting for people to make guesses over the internet. I also just did a quick Google search and I found and downloaded a Delta service manual for free. S o if you don't already have one, I recommend getting it. I f you want to fix it yourself, it could take hours . In my experience, if you get help online it can take weeks and usually some extra bucks spent replacing perfectly good parts (such as the often recommended "recapping"). Or months if you get professional help.

Does anyone have, or know where I might find a Korg Delta Joystick panel?

Although mine works, the top panel has been snapped off and is about an inch too short. The previous owner said it had had a hard life..

Thanks in advance..

Please ignore my earlier request for a Korg Delta joystick panel - I've bought one!

I think that leaves the S-10430 chip.. does anyone know where I might get one?

I just did a quick Google search and saw that you can still get them online.

Re: Korg Delta Advice Needed - update and help needed..

2017-11-16 by paul.rak@...

Hi.
Sorry about the lack of updates. I basically did other things for over a year!
Eventually, I sourced a few untested S10430 chips form a very nice guy in Holland. The deal was that I would test the chips in my delta and sell on any working ones (apart from the one I needed).
Well, eventually, after I had desoldered IC3 (S10430) and installed an IC socket, (Thanks to Amilcar in Portugal for the advice) I was able to test the chips, and they ALL worked.
So I now have three S10430 chips for sale on ebay. (See other thread).
Moving on, I have also replaced the broken single/multiple trigger switch and I'm about to move on to replace the filter caps (which is why the thing only works in one filter mode). I bought the kit from taunus_osi on ebay..

That leaves the broken synth release slider and the broken rhs end panel. I'm looking at getting wooden end panels made, so we'll see how that goes.

However, I have a problem: I can't get the metal panel off the top of the ADSR sliders!. I have removed ALL the screws/bolts/nuts etc, but it will not budge.. I can't replace the slider until I get that off.. Does anyone know what I've missed? The service manual doesn't show any other fixings, so I'm stuck.

Help!
