JD-800 died...

Hello, I had my JD-800 quit dead today. Absolutely dead, nothing happens at power on... I'm thinking a power supply problem.... Are these easy to fix/replace? I'm thinking a cold solder crack, possibly...or worst case, can a "generic" "RadioShack" AC/DC power supply of the same rating be a safe substitute? (or is there such a thing as "power supply standard sizes"... Any help, advice, info, web resources, etc.. would be greatly appreciated. *eventhough the JD isn't in any way "vintage", I figured an electrical problem like this was something they had in common... wiredog@...
