The samples on the site do a good job of demonstrating the basic character of the noise ring. And it definitely has an edge to it. I am inclined to agree with the previous poster who suggested the use of filtration to calm it down a bit. But, quite besides it use as a source of musically interesting random cvs and, indeed, noise, it's also one of my favourite oscillators. It has this amazing hybrid tone that is different to any other oscillator I have ever heard: it sound digital, but it has the presence of analogue. And because it isn't (really) intended to track, it breaks up in the most delightful and unexpected ways. One more thing. If you do decide to get one, you may find yourself more than occasionally entranced by the river of colours flowing down its face plate. It offers, IMO anyway, the best light show of any module on the market today :) rgds Pierre _________________________________________________________________ See their smiles, hear their laughter with MSN Messenger! http://messenger.msn.co.za/
