My new record (w/Remixes by Mark Verbos and Gabe Catanzaro)

2006-08-25 by transducr

Hi Gang,

I know I haven't been active for some time on this list...

However, my new record is now out and even though I haven't been
posting for some time, this is probably my favorite list, so I thought
I might offer a free download to anyone here who wants one.

Why this list? Well, I feel that this list earned a special place in
my heart early on, around the time it started. There was an incident
of one particular member drafting an offensive, juvenile, name-calling
email (all in good fun, mind you) which he thought was being sent only
to me. However, he mistakenly posted it to the list instead. Now,
instead of people getting their collective, politically-correct
panties in a bunch, we were joined by the likes of the infamous Dr.
Mabuse and evil genius/father of the list, Grant Richter, in a
name-calling session for the ages.

Well, folks: That's just my kind of list!

Unfortunately, there is no Wiard on this album. I've been in the
financial circumstance known as: "just barely scraping by" for some
time now and haven't purchased a new instrument for at least 3(!)
years. Several years ago, in a fit of insanity fueled by lust and a
credit card that was basically empty with a very high limit (yeah, it
didn't make sense to me either), I did attempt to buy a 300 system
from Grant when he gave early warning that he'd be discontinuing it.
This is when he kept having all of those email troubles and the order
(which I foolishly emailed instead of calling in) was eaten by some
angry god of internet communications. By the time it became clear that
the email had been lost or confiscated by the NSA, I had regained my
cool and come to terms with the reality of my particular monetary
situation. It was for the best as it's clear even from this anecdote
(and the above description of my finances) that I can't be trusted
with a credit card and should *never* be left to my own devices while
in possession of one. :D

However, to keep this very loosely on topic, there is a Wiard-related
connection here: My single release for "Filling In The Blanks"
features remixes by both Mark Verbos (who most of you know from this
list and the rest of the DIY community) and Gabe Catanzaro (who is
certainly more reclusive in the digital realms).

For those who may be unaware, Mark and Gabe were involved with Wiard
in the earlier years assembling modules, etc. for Grant, so this is
sort of a Wiard family affair. (Well, I guess more of a *weird* family
affair.) They also happen to be very talented musicians and great
friends.

Mark has released more records than I can count. Although, in all
fairness, I'm lazy and not good with numbers. Suffice it to say,
however, that his reputation and discography should precede him, so
I'll just leave it at that.

Gabe is in the incredibly unique position of having transitioned from
a career in Black Metal into making what can best be described as
Italo Disco music. I'm pretty sure that's a first. He's off the deep
end in the best possible way and those of us lucky enough to know him,
love him for it.

Anyway, If anyone wants a copy of the album and/or remix-single (each
come with a handy-dandy PDF booklet too!), just send me an email at
jon@jonautry.com and I'll send you a free download from my online
store. The files are encoded at 256kbps and available in either AAC or
MP3 formats (no DRM), so please specify your preference.

If you want any more info feel free to check out my website:

or just email me.

Good-natured name calling is also still very welcome...

Take care,
Jon
