Why is it that some people obsess over one filter and lose the opportunity to work with all the

grant,
i`m far from the "most complete vcf collection" guy out here but having :
serge vcfx, vcfs, vcf2
wiard omni-filter, boogie filter, boogie hi-pass filter, borg 2 filter
doepfer a-122 (cem chip),a-124 ("wasp"),a-101-1 ("steiner" / vactrol),a-101-2 (lowpass / gate),a-102 (diode),a-108 (48db/oct / tapped outs)
i do find that they all have different sounds and uses but i don`t think i`ve obsessed over any one type - in fact, all too often, the vcf that ends up in a given patch is the one right in front of me at that moment. :^)
arguing about vcf`s is like arguing about religion or politics - when all is said and done, its just one opinion.
my own theory - you build`em, i`ll buy`em ! :^)
best,
dave
