You could glue a veneer of wood onto a fibreglass panel. I always thought it would be neat looking to cut the panel text completely through the panel (you'd have to use a stencil-type font) and have a lamp inside the cabinet. Maybe put a colored gel in there to get different text colors. The cutting wouldn't be cheap tho...
