Starting with a bare PCB might be intimidating for a beginner; you can get some full kits of Ken's designs from bridechamber.com and others depending on what form factor you like. I also just got a PCB of Grant's (Wiard) wogglebug, though it's not quite the same as the one Wiard ships, it's an older design. The DIY community is great and a lot of people are doing PCB runs for different designs. Get a soldering iron and go nuts.
