I screwed around with making my own for quite a while, then had interns make them until finally I figured out that it wasn't worth my time or intern's time to make them so I just bought a whole slew of Kobiconn cables with molded ends from Mouser. I've been using them 3-4 years now and haven't had one short out.

3-foot:
