Can a GR-1210 No(i)se Ring be upgraded to a 1210A?

Re: Can a GR-1210 No(i)se Ring be upgraded to a 1210A?

Yes, just add the two jacks.

Sincerely, I did not realize so many people wanted a white noise
source, or I would have just done this to begin with. An honest
oversight. But since this is a genuine enhancement, it is not
covered under warranty. Parts cost is about 40 cents, and it
should take less than half an hour to complete.

Here are the instructions.

"Wire" is #24 stranded or equivalent. It is not critical.

1. Drill two 1/4" holes to the right of the "Chance In" and "External
Change" faceplate jacks and and halfway between those jacks
and the two output jacks (on the same horizontal line).

2. Mount two Mouser Part # 16PJ135 jacks in the 1/4" holes,
oriented the same way as the existing jacks.

3. The ground lugs for the new jacks should be touching the
ground bus wire. Solder both new ground lugs to the ground bus
wire.

4. Find the wire going from PC board solder point J11 to the
switch input of the "Chance In" jack. Run another wire from either
of those points to the tip contact for the new "Noise Out" jack.

5. Run a 4 inch wire from the tip contact of the new "External
Chance" jack to connector J4 on the printed circuit board.

6. Your done! Enjoy!

Once again, Wiard has the brightest, most experienced user
base you could wish for. The feedback of excellent new ideas is
fantastic. Whenever practical, these new ideas are immediately
incorporated in production modules. It is certainly not a trick
designed to make you buy the same module twice!

As it happened, the Stooge Panel guys quized me about all
possible outputs to fill up the larger panel. Then Andrew
Scheidler asked me if I could do the same thing with the
Frac-Rac version. That just happened to coincide with switching
to the Schaeffer faceplates, and 5 weeks latter, all new Noise
Rings orders have been upgraded to 8 jacks.

Based in LA, and the module is in perfect condition. I
can also send you a pic. By the way, I'm also after
the original dual joystick controller, just in case
you know of anyone.

Re: sequantizer vs tkb?

2004-12-22 by Michael A. Firman

They are pretty different animals so it's hard to compare,
but the Sequentizer has a few bells that the TKB (by itself)
doesn't have. First, it has a quantizer. Second it has individual
stage glide. Third, It can be clocked (like the TKB) or you can use
voltage control stage select (i.e. you can use any voltage source,
like an envalope generator, to select stages. This is really a pretty
cool feature).

Yes, the Sequantizer can also be clocked at audio frequencies.

Yes, it makes a very very nice graphic VCO.

Try this patch:

1. Noise ring out -> 1v/oct VCO in.

2. VCO set to audio range in 9:00 position

3. Triangle out of VCO into stage select of sequantizer

4. Sequantizer stage select set to to 12:00

5. Sequantizer 10v output to mixer.

If you have a scope you can change the speed of the VCO and change
the voltage stage settings of the sequantizer to view the changes in
the wave form. Using the sine, saw, or pulse from the VCO produce
different timbrex. I prefer the triangle.

Enjoy!
