boogie / borg 2

2005-05-27 by Ingo Zobel

i often use my boggie as a highpass filter (together with
a blacet mixer) and i really love the sound of it.

btw, can anybody say anything about the current draw
of the boogie?

are there any news regarding the gr1213a?
when will it be available?

best wishes

ingo

That's strange you mention using your Boogie as a HPF with a Blacet
mixer, as that was exactly what I was doing last night! It's strange
how you have to adjust the +/- gain differently for each poles output
though, to find the position with most rejection.

I am coming to love the Boogie more and more (I have only had it a few
days). If you put nothing into the audio in's, set it to self
oscillate, and then feed it variable frequency square waves from an
LFO it really sounds nice! When I tried this with my CGS/MetalBox
Steiner filter it sounded poor.

I also really like the way it sounds when you modulate the cutoff at
audio rates, I got some lovely morphing growls with the program
oscillator at a slightly lower frequency than the audio oscillator.

Having 2 audio in's is also great for doing crazy feedback stuff :)

One strange thing, when you sweep the filter at max resonance (with no
input) it only seems to get down to around 100-200 Hz or so, I can't
seem to get any really deep low sine basses out of it (as I can do
with my Mooger-Fooger MF-101), any ideas why this might be?

Keep tweaking your knobs!

Gregg.

Grant, would it be possible for you to publish a list of the current
draw of all of your Wiard 1200 series modules? This is pretty
essential stuff to ensure we aren't over-taxing our power supplies!

Best Wishes,

Gregg.

Ingo,

You are exploiting the existing out of phase relationships of the 12
and 24db outs compared to the 6 and 18db outputs - very clever!

The Boogie Highpass that I have is not that - it is a totally
different circuit - yielding a 6,12,18 and 24db/oct highpass filter
outputs.

Interesting is the idea of a "Highpass gate"?!
