Short Cables

Anyone know of a good source for 3.5mm patch cables in lengths shorter
than 12 inches, perhaps 6 inches long?

Thanks,

Chris

Blacet Research sells kits to make up 5 - 1' cables, I'm sure you
could make them any size you wanted... its a fairly inexpensive
way to go.

i just got a big mess o cords from analogue haven - shortest ones are a foot long though. maybe you already saw that and that's why you're asking -- but any shorter than that would seem to cause a sort of tension between the jacks as the cord is subject to more extreme bending. a foot makes a nice n' easy arc between tight spots. they seem to be pretty sturdy, and no noticable difference in quality between the store brand and the doepfer cords that i notice yet. probably come from the same factory.
(be careful when you go to that site. i find my credit card becomes extremely hot in my wallet.)
the other option would be to make your own. it's easy as pie. you can get decent parts from mouser, digikey, or any number of online suppliers if you don't have a decent local source. blacet also sells a bag with all the parts you need in one handy bag, but i've found those cables to be a little more thick and heavy duty than i find to be pleasant. a six inch cord would probably more like a small stick - not wanting to be bent at all.

Yeah, I'm guessing that it will be more difficult to find
pre-manufactured cables under a foot in length. The Blacet kits are
excellent quality and reasonably priced, and you can color code your
heatshrink this way.
If anyone's looking for a good deal on 1/8" cables, I've been buying
them lately from www.debcoelectronics.com. They only have 2 ft and 6 ft
lengths and are molded "made in china" types, but they are
*ridiculously* cheap ($.89 and $1.29 respectively) and seem to have
worked well so far for me (been using them about 6 months now).
Debco seems to be a mom and pop business and I highly recommend them,
good service and some really good deals... check the clearance section.

PS---Analoguehaven is indeed awesome as well!

Thanks for all of your replies. Each was helpful in some way. I will
probably order some of the Analogue Haven 12" as well as a Blacet kit
to experiment with some shorter lengths. On my Serge/Modcan system I
use 4" and 8" cables all the time for inter-module patching, so I'm
admittedly biased toward cables with less droop!

Best wishes,

Chris
