My Magic 8-ball responded with "My sources say no". ;-) As the Wiard website says, "The JAG produces ten output voltages from two input voltages." The JAG only has 2 inputs, and since one joystick puts out 2 CVs, you can't really use 2 joysticks with one JAG (unless you are only using one output from each 'stick). The beauty of the JAG is that is only *needs* 2 inputs to create 10 outputs. There are some dual joystick setups out there, like Gary Chang's lovely controller, but that's another story. -- john

Considering that Grant follows a design path that could be compared to Serge or Buchla in the sense that almost every individual module can be configured as a 'voice', and control ranges tend to extend from subaudio to audio without range switching. (the obvious exceptions would be the JAG or the Joystick) How would we know that completion hasn't already happened? ;'> -doc

How about a Woggle bug, bottle of Jack Daniels and a roll of toilet paper? True, I had 'system lust' when I first looked at Wiard stuff. Of course, the system that I presently had didn't come to me in one piece - a module or two were received every few months for about 18 months. If you use other manufacturer's stuff (such as the Blacet VCOs and the Miniwave, which are modules that Grant had a hand in creating) to supplement what Wiard stuff you get, you can certainly get going right now. I'm still here on the island for a little while longer. oddly enough, I haven't seen a manx cat in about six months. Look on eBay for a used Needham EMP-10. There are two models, an ISA card that plugs in an old computer, or a standalone model. In any case you will need a computer for file transfer. The EMP-10 support up to a 27C08 4 meg x 8 EPROM. --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "stefanbonnet" <stefanbonnet@...> wrote:

The EMP-10 is great and affordable (I don't think Needham makes that model anymore so you may be forced to go to the bay). I do have one problem with it though - it uses a parallel port to connect to the computer. A lot of computers these days don't have parallel connectors anymore (and they certainly aren't available on my Macs). I've been sucessful in getting all my old Windows applications to run on my Mac in "Virtual PC". The ones that use serial ports work fine with USB to DB9 adapters. USB to Parallel adapters aren't really true parallel adapters, they really are USB to "Old Printers that Connect to Parallel Ports" adapters. They (and their drivers) have just enough smarts to work with a printer and nothing more. A lot of the Burner manufacturers are now making USB connected products but the software is still PC based (and they are still a bit expensive). I'm really tired of keeping my old beat up PC (running NT!) around just for the E-PROM burner application. If anyone knows of a programmer that has software for a Mac I'd really like to know. --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "Grant Richter" <grichter@...> wrote: > > Look on eBay for a used Needham EMP-10. I've got a binary zone and klangwerk and they're both very fine modules. I'm thinking of a portable system with only shallow modules. Perhaps a custom panel for two miniwaves side by side with the panels mounted parallel behind the panel? re the envelooper and it needing a vactrol input, will it not be useable as a c/v for wave sequencing? cheers Richard
