Wiard in live radio (and internet) performance
2002-03-18 by mafirman
Hello There, I thought I'd send this out to all of you who might be interested in electronic music (particularly electronic music produced on Wiard equipment). Members of MEME (rhymes with gene), the Midwest Electronic Music Ensemble, will be performing live on the Radio and on the Internet on April 5th at midnight eastern time (11:00 PM central). The radio station is WCBN 88.3 FM in Ann Arbor Michigan and the show is the Electrik Kingdom (hosted by Chris Stecker). If you're not in the Ann Arbor area you can listen to the streaming audio of the program by going to www.wcbn.org and clicking on "listen live". The MEME members that will be performing (and chatting with Chris) are: Nick Wilson on heavily processed electric violin and samplers, and Michael Firman on a twelve+ module Wiard system, Korg Electribe ER-1, and devices. The music will be a mixture of composed and improvised pieces and should feature some interesting sounds and sonic textures (with a few beats thrown in for good measure). MEME has been around now for five years and consists of seven members (five of which are active members): Grant Richter, Darwin Grosse, John Papiewski, Nick Wilson, Michael Firman, Andre Stordeur, and Jack McCarthy (Andre and Jack are now both living outside of the midwest). MEME performs live on a variety of electronic instruments including various modular synthesizers. MEME is devoted to the production of live, creative, electronic music. More information about the group can be found at http://www.mlswebworks.com/meme.html Note: The above is going out to several lists, but since this is the Wiard list I thought that I would add that the performance will use a lot of the Woggle Bug and some custom EPROMS in two Wave Form City modules. We will be on for a couple of hours so there should be a lot of Wiard spashed all over the airwaves (and Internet). Later, | Michael A. Firman | maf@mlswebworks.com | http://www.mlswebworks.com
