Live noise rock with Wiard
2008-04-11 by Doug Pearson
Last weekend, I was in southern California with the noise/improv rock band Liquorball and our special guest, Steve MacKay, saxophone player for (Iggy Pop and) the Stooges and numerous others (Violent Femmes, Commander Cody, Andre Williams, Snakefinger, and his own Radon Ensemble, to name a few). Along with live performances in Ventura and LA, we did a live-in-studio recording/micro-FM-broadcast that's also available on podcast thanks to our producer's stepdaughter. A good amount of Wiard noises are present, although sometimes it's difficult to tell whether a particular sound came from sax, guitar, or Wiard. Streaming audio and downloadable mp3's are here: http://www.archive.org/details/SteveMackayWithLiquorballOnTheStuckOnSoundShow Note that there's about 15 minutes of interview before any music, if you want to hear Steve talk about meeting Madonna when the Stooges played the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame last month ...
