Grant meets Qubais

Grant meets Qubais

2009-08-09 by Michael A. Firman

I posted a photo of Grant and Qubais Reed Ghazala playing with Qubais' original (from 1966) circuit-bent device at the Experimental Sound Studio's garage sale in Chicago (2009). The photo is the last item in the "Miscellaneous" section. For those who don't know who Qubais is, he is said to be the "Father of Circuit Bending" having begun his experiments with transistor radios in the 1960s. He creates instruments in the form of Art Objects and is a "composer" of "Chance Music". His instruments and recordings are featured in the "Gravikords, Whirlies, & Pyrophones: Experimental Musical Instruments" recording.

I've been friends with Reed for many years I thought the two of them would get along. They are both singularly unique thinkers and both have a very wide range of interests which go through their arts.
