Hi Soggy,
Before you tax your patience another year waiting for a response, you
could give Grant a phone call. The number is stated on the Wiard.com
website, "purchase" page.
This is just meant as an encouragement. Maybe it's an inconvenience
if you don't speak English fluently, if you live far away, or are
generally shy? If so, consider that it's probably a big convenience
for Grant, or he would anser your emails. It's not like he'll ring
off if he doesn't have the news you ring him up for.
I recently got my first Wiard module. Actually I've had various
joysticks before, but what I mean is it's the first time I see
Grant's standard design with the enclosure and the modularized
construction, and while I'm not an electronics expert at all (or
maybe *because* I'm not and only the obvious meets my eye?), it's
definitely the most impressive piece of electronics I've ever seen,
both in terms of design and manufacturing.
This must take a tremendous amount of work, and if I'm right in
supposing he does it all alone these days, the mere maintaining of
Grant's existing range of products must take up most of the time he
might like to spend for work on and correspondence about new designs.
Personally, I'm actually *glad* about the way it is, and hope the
existing 300 series will go on as long as it's feasible for Grant,
even if that would mean a stagnation in terms of new designs. But
Wiard is a very personal (can I say intimate?) business and not very
predictable, and whatever way it goes, it will always accommodate
some wishes and some not. My personal priority is extremely biased
through the fact that I'm still only at the start of my 300 system
after wanting one for years (I recently sacrificed a lot of other
things to be able to keep it up), so I have complete sympathy for
differing priorities, like when your budget is too small or you
already have all of the 300 stuff, want to stick with FracRac-
compatible modules, or whatever.
As for the Noise Ring, for the time being you could look into
Blacet's Dark Star Chaos as an alternative. I understand it was
recently issued for a third and final time after the previous edition
("DSC2000") had already attained collector's status. 15 units left as
I'm typing this. Considering how erratically those wacky noise and
chaos modules seem to fluctuate in and out of existance, past and
future, getting a DSC quick is probably your best choice at the
