Wow.  You're brave.  =)  Yes, this is possible, but you'll have to do
some serious programming.  Also note that you'll be limited by the
different format (i.e. durations, monophonic, repeats, etc).

Yep, that's the one.  The dump format is pretty simple, so even if the
Sysex doc doesn't detail it, it should be pretty obvious from a dump. 
(well, obvious to someone who's brave enough to be writing a sysex tool
of this magnitutde!)  You'll be my (and Sean's) hero if you manage do
get this to work!
