Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I have a Motif 7 and I want to sync that sequencer to the XL's 
sequencer, after I set the XL's tempo to "ext" the sequencer plays 
but is off to the motif sequencer, the only way to make it lock it to 
set mt Motif at measure 2, Why???
