Gotta agree here.
I paid $3400 AUD for an RS7000 w/64meg ram + 2 64meg SM cards.
I got the MP-7 w/OS2.0 brand new for $1650 (AUD) .
Go figure ?????
The sequncers are quite different , the XX-7 has some dead funky
shuffle and quantize options that work a treat in loosening a groove
up.
I do downbeat/illbient style glitch/idm and these units hold the
groove together much tighter at lower BPM ratios ie:50 to 75
inparticular.
No where near as digital in sound as the Yamaha.
Love the patchchords :P .
The pads are really responsive and the velocity control in grid mode
is very very nice indeed.
Huge bottom end for a ROM based unit.
Drums actually sound pretty punchy to me but my DAW has seperate
dynamics processing and EQ pertrack so that probably helps some.
Going to see what I churn out with this over the next few weeks and
if I'm pleased I'll either ditch the RS and get an E6400 Ultra or
drop some cash on an EMX-1 and ESX-1 (pair).
So far so good.
All seems very stable.
Fairly logically laid out.
Navigation is taking a bit of getting used to especially after going
from a QY300 -> RM1X -> RS7000.
You can do alot with the rom waveforms ,layers and patchchords that's
for sure.
Still tossing up on which roms to get.
Kind of plumbing for BeatGarden , Vintage Pro and Xtreme Lead at the
moment but haven't made any firm decisions as yet.
I really like the tonal quality of these units and the rapidity of
work flow.
Got home from work a 6pm and apart from stopping for dinner at 8pm
it's now 12:30 am and I've gotta work in the morning LMAO :P ....
Better get some sleep then hadn't I .... ;-).
