Re: Favorite Computer Sequencer

I agree with rEalm on this one .
That said you can be "pro" and not use hardware sequencers also U
know.
I use an ER-1 ,Mp-7 ,RS7000 ,MaM step sequencer (almost analog
stylee),MS2000 step modulator also,though I'd kill for a Latronic
NOTRON :P .....
Cut my teeth on a Qy300 then 700 but like the knob interface of the
RS and it's close enough to the Qy700 feature wise to keep me happy.
More than enough grunt between the 4 and all have their strengths and
weeknesses.
Emu has better swing shuffle feel (way better actually) and does down
tempo stuff way better , RS has more fluid step sequncer / XOX on
both is sort of on par (I like both). RS can handle different
meter/time sig and length per track with perfect synchro looping.
Emu has better ARPS in a huge way ,triggers ,better synth engine by a
long shot and a less hard quantised sequncer feel which I love.
The MaM has some damn nifty tricks up it's sleeve to and is great for
straight analog style (on a 70's tip) step sequencer programming.
ER-1 pure XoX fun get great expressionwith velocity over midi RS
handles NRPRN's very well with it.
Korg step seq/modulator is used as a paremeter sequncer only whilst
playing ;ead libes etc etc..
Great combination IMHO.
Can get some great polyrythmic stuff goin on with this lot.

No reason you can't use both, I use different sequencers depending on
the need.

I thought the XL7 had a nice sequencer? I guess if you have learned
Cubase, you may as well stick with it.
