Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I just want to make sure that there is not going to be any problem 
using the MOTU FastLane USB for using the E loader program with my xl-
7.  The reason I ask is that I have read that in order to get the 
sequences and patterns off the internet or the cd rom you need to be 
able to transfer info through midi?  is this correct
