I had a feeling you were talking about a sampler. :)

That really depends more on how you set up the sampler more than the XL-7.
Within the sampler you have the option to have any sounds be transposed
(ie, you sampled a C note, but it changes as you move up or down the
keyboard), or to be fixed (it's always a C note no matter what key you
pressed). So it's really up to you how you want to set up the sampler. To
be more specific, you're actually making this setting for each sampler
"Preset", not the whoel sampler in general. If you set it up the first
way, then yes the audio file will play at a higher pitch as you move up
the pads on the XL-7. If not, then every XL-7 Pad will sound the same
note.

The second method is useful for drums and such where you might want to be
able to move them around the keyboard without picthing them up or down.

I'll know more specific about Emu X any day now. I've got the install CDs
sitting at home, still waiting on my 1820m to arrive before I can install
it though.

Ok, well if I were to sample some chord from a guitar, and I wanted
to control that sound with the Xl-7, would I only be able to play
around with the one chord, or would the Xl-7 make the chord into a
whole range of chords? The emulatorx is what I'm planning on getting
to sample stuff. Would it just do that itself?
