I gotta disagree, there are definitely benefits to making music with a
hardware sequecner. Hands on control of more than one parameter, the fact
taht you're forced to make music by ear and not by sight (scary thought I
know). It is easier to do a lot of things on a software sequencer, but as
I'm finding out, easier isn't always better.

Anyway, really just trying to say that there's a time and a place for
both, and neither is necccesarily better than the other.

greetings comrad,

personally I'd stay away from the hardward sequencer. Would you like to
strain while looking at a small usually colorless screen or a computer
monitor??? A good and safe way to go, especially if you are beginning
with midi, is to pull all your sounds from hardware while sequencing your
beats/songs on a big beautiful computer screen. If you're having trouble
laying down acceptable tracks...the best advice I can give is to keep
soakin up as much tips and tricks from your favorite artists/producers by
listening to their music. Cuz trust me...software sequencers were
designed to make life much easier for the modern day producer...and they
do.

learn the program inside and out...and enjoe the X- Lead....Lord knows how
many knocks I've made with it!

Just purchased my xl-7 off of e-bay should be here next week. Can't
wait to get to work. I have few years toying with cubase/reason
combo and while they are powerful tools i just never can seem to lay
down anything that really ups the ante. So i figured it was time to
jump into the hardware sequencer foray and see what may come. This
is a great group here lots of knowledgable folks.
