Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Wow, that definitely doesn't sound good!  I would open the unit back up 
and make sure that everything is secure, check all cables and ROMs to be 
sure they are securely fastened to the circuit boards.  Maybe try moving 
the new ROM to a different slot.  When you put it back together, make sure 
the case screws are firmly fastened.

If you still have problem, might be a defective unit and should be sent 
back to Emu asap.

holy shit.  something is definitely the matter with my px-7.  i went 
to save a pattern and when i hit "save" and the px-7 froze on the 
save screen for a couple minutes. 

I turned off the px-7 and restarted it.....all of my patterns (and 
the demo patterns) have been erased....??????

do i need to remove the xl-7 rom?
