Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Thanks for the advice and help,

To answer your question, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go strickly with the
sounds the XL7 has
and since the techs that sold me the unit misinformed me, I thought I could
upload the XL7
and MP7 patterns into the 2500. I figured that wasn't the case but I can
exchange it for an
XL7 if I don't like the 2500. And your right, the 2500 is more of a all
around system rather
than being strickly for Hip-hop or techno like the MP7 and the XL7. I'll let
you know if I
exchange it for the XL7, I compose all kinds of music but my preference is
trance and
techno...thats why I was leaning towards the XL7. As far as the equipment I
have to
supplement the 2500, I just bought an Alesis QS7.1 keyboard to go along with
the 2500,
plus I already had a Korg M1 to use as my controller for the 2500. I got a
great deal on
a Boss BR-8 last month and thats what I'm using for recording.

a very big may...be able to help you out with some awesome software my
cousin has, if
I can persuade him into letting me have a copy of it. Over 2GB's of the most
awesome
sounds and riffs of every kind of instrument you can think of, plus the
software to load all
of the sounds and riffs and blend them with recorded tracks created from any
external
MIDI device. I'll find out more about the software later this week. Let me
know
if your interested. Like I said though, I have to talk him into getting me a
copy of it, he's
in the recording business in LA, I live in Boston so getting it will take a
little time to get
it assuming I can talk him into it.

  wanted the XL-7.  Why did you go with the 2500 instead?  As far as
  advantages, it really depends on the music you like.  I like all
  styles so it's really up to you.  Do you have a good keyboard
  controller?  If you do then I'd say use the expansion slots(you have
  3 open)and get the X-LEAD ROM # 9089 and use your controller keys.
  The 2500 is nice but my only gripe is that I wish it had more than
  the 3 extra expansion slots.  Right now I have this E-MU gear:

  P2K w/Techno Synth Construction Yard & Beat Garden ROM's by Rob Papen
  (giving me the standard Proteus and Orbit 3 in one module)

  XL-1 standard w/Pure Phatt ROM
  (giving me the XL-1 and Mo'Phatt in one module)

  Launch Pad midi controller

  If the 2500 had six slots, I would sell these and put everything in
  one and gain the sequencer(right now I use a hardware sequencer).
