Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Greetings to all!

Yesterday a friend of mine brought his newly acquired XL-7 (bargain 
price, mint condition) to my place. I started by upgrading the OS to 
2.0, then showed him some tricks I've learned on my MP-7. "One of the 
cool things about arpeggiators", I told him, "is that you can latch 
them and go on playing other tracks". I proceed to demonstrate and 
bummer! As soon as I switch tracks, the latched arpeggiator stops.
I double-checked, and this doesn't happen on my machine.

I find it hard to beleive that his unit is flawed in such a specific 
and peculiar way. Any ideas on what's going on here?
