Re: [xl7] Presets stored within pattern ?????

2005-01-04 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

The presets stored in the pattern, as is a lot of the settings.

>>>Just because I can see this causing some confusion, let me clear this
up a bit. Presets are NOT stored with the Pattern. Presets are completely
independant from Patterns, if you tweak a Preset, then save a PATTERN, all
of the tweaks you made to the Preset will be gone next time you turn on
your XX-7. Presets are independant entities that are stored completely
seperate from Patterns. The Pattern stores the LOCATION of the Preset, not
the actual Preset data. If you tweak a Preset to your liking, you need to
save that to a new User Preset location via the save menu. the Pattern
will remember this new location automatically, but you must still save the
Pattern for this to be remembered.

When in doubt, save the Preset, then resave your Pattern. <<<

I find global setups are really only used for start points for a song
/pattern. Save a global setup that describes your studio, your live setup,
etc; and you can use the setup to set your patterns up before you begin
writing them.

>>>Same here, I only use Multi's for remember different global settings
depending on my use of the machine (live, studio, etc). The easiest
option is to just make all your global settings, save the current multi as
something like "PX-7 Default" and then forget about the Multi function
until you find yourself needing it for something else. <<<
