Easier would be to make a preset that does this.  Each preset has 4
layers and can link to 2 other presets for a total of 12 layers.  Then,
you could set up patchcords to control each layer's volume with the
MIDI A-N knobs.  This way, you could continue to use the rest of the
box's features (like the sequencer).

Actually, now that I think of it, the preset approach is really the
only way to do it.  I don't think you could have the channels respond
to other channels than what they are.  You could sequence the notes,
then copy them to multiple tracks, not not live.  If your external
keyboard could send 9 channels worth of MIDI it'd work, but that'd be a
hassle.
