I have bought from both experienced and inexperienced sellers. I have had both good and mediocre experiences with both novice sellers and expereinced sellers. However, the issue I raised has nothing to do with this. It has to do with scooping up ROMs in such a way as to prevent others from buying them at what had been the fair market value up uintil that point and then turning them around, marking them up, and simply selling them at newly inflated prices. If you had bought from sellers pre-Mr. Markup, there is a good probability that (1) you would have gotten quality service, (2) you would have paid less, and (3) the seller would have gotten more. As for US-Canada transactions, in my experience shipping costs from Canada are quite high. However, I found one seller of music (books) helped me to get favorable shipping charges by combining fees for multiple items. It worked out well for both of us as it prompted me to bid on a number of books. (I have also had sellers who refused to combine shipping charges making the per item cost with shipping out of my purchasing range.) Finally, I had some excellent transactions from people without large volume. In fact you could make the argument that someone who only has 20-30 sales is going to work harder than someone with 2,000 to make sure the customer is satisfied. These are side issues though. Even today, if someone wanted to scoop up nearly all the World Expedition ROMs that go on the market for $285 - $335, they could probably jack the price up to $400 or more (plus other ROMs at a lower scale). If you doubt this, front me $30,000 USD and I will split the markup we make after we recoup the $30,000 USD. :-) --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, luc-eric rousseau <lucericr@...> wrote: > > I'm fairly sure I bought a ROM from one of the two person you refer to > as Mr. Markup. > As a buyer from Canada, I want to point out that in my case there is a > peace-of-mind factor here with regards to dealing with a power seller > who knows all the detail of shipping, taxes, who can have the > transaction done through Visa and who knows the merchandise well and > has more than one in stock in case it's broken.
