Re: multi pass...er step

2008-06-17 by dwn4tupac

I don't think you understand exactly what I was talking about.
I'll try to clarify.
I have midi data on track 1 of pattern1 which I am currently on. I set
channel 1 to kit 0. I save it. Saves ok. So pattern 1 track 1 should
have a channel 1 of kit 1.
I switch to pattern 2 and have diff drum data on track 1 of pattern 2.
I set pattern2 track 1 channel 1 to kit 2 and save. Saves ok.
I switch back to pattern 1 track 1 and lo the channel is still on kit
2 (was kit 1 when i saved pattern 1).

Now from what bob's response alluded to the channel assignments are
not saved with patterns, but in the multi step. So in order to change
the channel setups you have to save them to the multi step and assign
multi steps to each pattern you want diff sounds with...am i right so
far bob?

I did start messing around w/ the multi steps the other day, but
didn't exactly read the manual on what they were I just found them in
the menu...

If someone could post real quick how i would assign a given multi step
to each pattern that would be great.

thx for all your help and suggestions guys.

settings (allowing you to devote a channel to playing live where the
sequencer won't touch it).

Like Bob is saying, the XL-7 doesn't work the same as a 505 or
something. You store your custom presets in the four user banks of
presets, then the sequencer stores which custom preset you used per
channel.

just ensure that you have data on the appropriate tracks. Simply
recording a volume event will do the trick. Easiest way is to go into
step record and wiggle the volume knob for the track or touch the
pitch strip.

Roland drum machine. Instead, they are stored in the multi setup.
This is similar to a pure sequencer that does not store what sounds
are used directly in the sequence. In short, the sound/preset used by
the sequencer/pattern/song must be stored in the multi, located under
the global menu. If you need to change the "arrangement" of sounds,
then a new "arrangement" is needed and stored in a new multi....this
is in the manual and I hope my explanation clarifies it a bit...
