Well, I was able to get the demo to see and (begrudgingly at times) exchange data with my Novation KS4 and Yamaha AN1x. The XL-7 did not fare as well, exchanging all of one patch with the Proteus 2000 profile after about an hour of fiddling with it, and even then it did not display the patch data properly.

I usually use SysEx Librarian for bulk dumps, which is akin to MIDI OX but for the Mac.

For those who are interested, the MIDIQuest demo limitations appear to be thus: one cannot save anything, and one cannot edit beyond the first three patches of a bank. I’m not sure whether the problems I had with the P2K module were due to the demo having issues, or whether the problems are in the regular version as well. I have read that apparently the demo version has bugs that aren’t present in the full version - not a very effective demo if that is the case. Anyway, I didn’t even get around to trying the AU integration part - it’s a maddeningly half-assed piece of software and not worth what they’re asking for it. Perhaps someone else has a happier tale about it, but I’m going to pass.
