New rEalm Tune (yes, again)

2002-05-14 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Well, the original tune is all XL-7, you can hear that version up at Emu's
Audiophile site:

Production Notes:
The first order of business was adding a new drum loop to the mix, using
one I 'found' and ReCycled, then resequenced in Reason. This was rewired
into Cubase and underwent extensive programming at that point in order to
add LOTS of fills and drum variations. I also layered new kicks and
snares over the original drum tracks, to make them harder and more full
sounding. The original bassline and about 4 other tracks were scrapped
completely too, as I felt something darker was needed to compliment the
harder drums. The new Bassline is from Reaktor's Junatik Ensemble,
heavily effected and distorted. The wierd noises are all from Reaktor
too, I forget the ensemble, but it was originally a sample of someone
saying "Hallucinitory" and "MDMA" :) The 303 line was from (you guessed
it) ReBirth. No XL-7 added to the new version, only beause it's being
dedicated to another concept project, more on that one when it's done :)

How long did it take me? Hard to say as it's been one of those projects
that got worked on inbetween more pressing stuff. I'd say about two weeks
would be realistic, give or take a few days. I was pretty focused while
working on this tune, and I tend to work fast in that mode ;)

That's definitely your best so far (well IMO anyway!). Maybe it's just
the sort of music I like, but it really smacks with attitude, and the
pecussion track is sooo detailed and well programmed. How much of that
was done on the XL7? How long did it take you?
