Well I
happen to be one of the lucky ones with a problematic VIA chipset. It has
also screwed up my serial port drivers. I have to use an entirely
different computer to configure my Opcode patchbays, and I had the Midisport
8x8s. Ports never worked with my computer and the config software was
pretty dodgy. Turned out they eventually listed my particular motherboard
and VIA chipset as incompatable. The sad thing is I mad sure to get an
Asus mobo to ENSURE compatability. Not to watch it do
this....

Subject: Re: [xl7] [OT] Midi MergingHmm.I have 2 computers with VIA chipsets. I get swift response from both of them, whether we're talking Usb Audio, Midi, networking, drives, etc.I know for a fact that some earlier via chipsets had their problems. But if you would be willing to support your claims with evidence, then I would be happy to read it :)d----- Original Message -----From: Kay StephaneSent: Wednesday, May 22, 2002 4:10 AMSubject: Re: [xl7] [OT] Midi Merging
If you have a PC with VIA chipset (e.g. MSI motherboards), just trow your computer to the trash can. You won't be able to run any USB device with it...
It is not easy to find moterboard that REALLY supports USB. And sometimes, even the driver bugs on ANY computer.
I think that USB devices should be tryied at computer store, BEFORE buying a mogtherboard.
