Next question. I'm assuming that there is
realy no way to get a completely dry out if you're using both fx processors as
well as both sub outs for outboard fx/signalprocessors. . . Am I

Yes, there's a reason for this. It's so you can hang out at a particular bar to do editing without it flying by. I assume that you want to come back out of grid record while still playing. Press rec instead (punch-out).
grid record [push rec] ;=> play
grid record [push play] => grid paused
grid paused [push play] => grid record
grid paused [push rec] => stopped
Oh, and the audition thing? You could always pop out the button... I've done that for the soft-power button on my machine.
