My opinion is , the MP-7's drums are better for D&B. For more ambient
styles, the pads and synths in the XL-7 are stronger. You can always buy
one and then upgrade your unit with the other ROM board (Pure Phatt or
X-LEAD). Then your decision is based on "which color". 

BTW, when you listen to the factory patterns there are more D&B like
grooves found in the Xl-7, but if I had to choose, I'd go with the MP-7.
