hi I was about to sell my XL7 last night to raise funds for a Machinedrum but after playing around with it for 1hr i could'nt let go of it. So now i'm gonna sell my Techno and Beat garden Roms and i'll get the Beat garden back in 3months or so and i'll let my credit card take the Machinedrum. I really like the pads/kits/arps of the XL7. The bass also sounds good but its just not as expressive as the ones i can create on my Access Virus.... BTW theres some amazing bass presets on the Beat Garden. I like the "warmer/softer" sound quality of the E-mu as compared to Yamaha and Roland as it is easier to bed down in the mix. Sometimes its easier to come up with new sounds on the XL7 as the waveforms all have apt descriptions and emus synth engine is a revelation. I'd say the XL7 has the ability to sound cutting edge and thats what counts. ----- Original Message ----- From: lekanut <Lekanut@...> To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, December 08, 2002 12:15 PM Subject: [xl7] xl7 vs analog I have the XL7 with the MOPHAT ROM(and the beat garden in the future..);some profesionnals musicians think it's sound very good but not warm!too digital..i disagre!Because with all the analog type waveforms in theXL7 and some dedicated ROMs,the fabulous EMU's filters,it sound warm!(and more versatile than CLAVIA,NOVATION,ACCESS,WALDORF...etc because you have more than alalog waveforms..) What do you think about this opinion? What is a warm sound? And where's the difference between the XL7,MOPHAT and ORBIT3 roms, and analog physical modeling synthetizers(or real analog synthetizers..)And if you disagree with me,what can i do to sound "analog" with my machine?
