Beats in the P2K family are just glorified audition riffs. The
modules with SuperBeats have special triggered playback of this
riffs. If you plug in a ROM with beats/riffs in it they show up in the
-7's riff selection list in the corresponding preset edit page. At
least this is how the 'Techno Synth Construction Yard' ROM
worked.

I think the issue with the preset compatibility between the Mo
Phatt ROM and the MP7 preset banks (or the XL-1 and the XL7
set) had to do with the fact that the placement of the ROM
sample sets as far as their instrument number (what is normally
called a multisample) are different, so the patches all need to be
slightly changed to account for this. So you can get both the MP
and XL sound set in any -7.

What is actual inside the corresponding -7 is the actual ROM
used in the module, it is not a special ROM.

So, an enterprising person could in theory make a CL7
(classical, using the orchestral), ZR-7 (using the ensoniq ROM),
etc as the ROM that comes with the unit is not part of the -7's
operating system. Its just a stock Emu ROM card.
