I consider the dissolve part option the least painful solution I will
stop whining now its just that such a simple feature "multitrack midi
record" needs to be standard in a sequencer costing this much.

I don't know as I personally don't see a need for that feature (you can 
just use two midi tracks at once and filter the channels you don't
want). 
Liek they say in your link, that's what Input Transformer is there for. 
It's doable, just not as easy as VST was yet.  BTW, there's a new update

coming out in June, and SX2.0 later this year, so you might want to wait

before jumping ship.

My understanding is that cubase sx can not multi channel record
