It's basically like BTS mode, except that you don't have to use the
factory beats, you can make up your own, or assign a part from a Pattern
to be the phrase. Yes, dropping acid and making music is a recipe for
disaster, I'd get about 4 beats into a song and end up watching screen
savers the rest of the night :)

Subject: Re: [xl7] Re: Playing live tips
RPS- Real Time Phrase Sequencing. i have this on my 909. i still havnt
gotten
my command station, i am waiting to play with the px, before i buy one.
basicaly with rps. you can make a 4 measure loop, of anything you want.
individual drum parts, or a whole drum loop, can be programmed to one
button.
then you can mute the parts that are already playing, and throw in a new
loop.
it can be a variation of the beat you have playing, or can be totaly
different,
and give your song a new feel. you can program a new bass line, efx,
drums,
basicaly anything you want to RPS. on the 909, you have multiple RPS
banks all
of which are user programmable, and can be called upon at any time. this
is an
awsome feature for playing live, and for auditioning different drum loops
in
the studio. also on the 505, you had the mega mix option, which let
you(while
your pattern is playing) pick the drum track(or any track) from a
different
pattern, and when your currently playing pattern looped over, the new drum
track would play. this made going from song to song very easy, because
you
could slowly mix in the part you wanted. i am not sure if that is what
the X-
mix is on the command stations. if that is what x-mix is, then that is
freakin
fantastic, and i really cant wait to get my command station. oh yeah
something
else i thought of, that is kinda important, at least for me. is not too
get
extremely F-uped before you play live. if you were in a band and only
responsable for one insturment, then maybe its okay to f-uped. but when
you
are in control of every insturment, it a may not be a good idea to drop
that
acid, and start eating those pills!!!
peace
