this is a newbie question

this is a newbie question

2004-01-30 by M A Cinense

I need some help with some acronyms. I know that this will not make
my beat making any better, but I hope it will help me understand the
unit better. So any help would be great.

here it goes:

BTS =
MSB =
LSB =

I guess that is for now, I may have more later on.

thank you in advance.

Most Significant Byte (n.) In a number, the high digit. Most often
used with bank select command to choose ROM ID.

> LSB =
Least Significant Byte (n.) The low digit. With E-mu devices, this
bank select LSB selects the "bank" within a particular ROM.

Suggested addendum:

BTS (1) a prefix used by E-Mu (one of several e-music gear
manufacturers) for patches (presets, in E-Mu terminology) optimized
for being played with E-Mu's amazing beats functionality found in
gear based on their Proteus 2000 synth engine with either OS 2.26 (12-
controller based gear)or OS 2.0 (16 controller-based gear). (2) the
preset itself, usually containing 4 differerent layers zoned across a
keyboard map. For example, L1 may be a SFX (Special Effects) ROM
Instrument assigned to the keyboard range C-2 through A#0, L2 may be
a KIT (drum kit)ROM Instrument assigned to the keyboard range B0
through B3, L3 may be a BAS (Bass) ROM Instrument assigned to the
keyboard range C4 through B5, and L4 may be a STR (string) ROM
Instrument assigned to the keyboard range C6 through G8. (3) a prefix
used by E-Mu to designate special audition riffs optimized for E-Mu's
beats functionality. See Beats.

NOTE: The BTS prefix may be selected alphabetically when using E-Mu's
built-in preset navigator. In preset edit mode BTS riffs are
alphabetically navigable.

I spotted some inconsistent use of terminology in the following
links, but the basic concepts are (I believe) sound. I hope it helps
with some practical insights into how to use MSB #s.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
