Hi,

I agree that that sentence is quite confusing, maybe because it's not
correct. It seems to me that it's in contradiction with the diagram
called "output section & effects processors" (p. 233 of the manual),
which is clearer and corresponds to the way the sends on my PX7 work.

Eurika!!!! Thanks for clarifying this. Only the dry signal is
disconnected; the wet signal is still determined by the FX send %
parameters. The manual even says that in several places.

ok let me see if i've got this straight...

let's say i want to have two sends out of both of the subs - in my case two
mono sends out of the left jack of Sub 1 and Sub 2. i am sending these into
the two audio inputs of my Novation Nova, to send through the Nova's filter
and effects (whee!). so, i insert the jacks and patch them into the Nova as
well. now, if i turn the XL-7 on to Multi mode, change the master effects
send levels for send 2 and send 3 on both effects A and effects B, then i
will have it such that when i use the Mix Output to send 2 or send 3 it will
go only to the Nova and not through either of the internal effects. and i
still have two sends available (send 1 and send 4) which can have two
different send level combinations for the two internal processors.

that's just nifty.

better yet, i'll patch the sub outputs of the XL into my mixer and send
effects out to the Nova as aux sends - and retain wet/dry control over the
both sub-outs.

i've done synth stuff a long time but never really tried to get into the
internal effects routings and such of my devices, preferring to switch the
effects off and do everything in the computer once stuff is recorded. now
that i'm switching over to a "live" set with the XL-7 as the "hub" it's nice
to know there's all sorts of flexibility in the effects processing,
certainly more so that i had previously thought. yowza!
