Loading Multisetups via MIDI

Loading Multisetups via MIDI

2004-05-02 by reconehelmut

I am trying to drop a bank/patch change into the begining of each of
my sequences (In Sonar) that loads a multi setup on the XL-7. I have
already done this for the rest of my gear but dont quite understand
what is in the manual about loading multis. It has one paragraph
that says 'Select: cc00=80, cc32=00, and then a program change
command corresponding to the multisetup you wish to select". What
exactly does that mean? Send a cc message of 80 on cc# 00 and
another of 00 on cc# 32 and then send the patch change? I have tried
this and it hasnt worked.

Anyone?

If you can do "normal" bank switching in Sonar, think of it this way:

Multisetups can be called as if they are in a bank with a ROM ID of
80 [decimal]. The program change [preset change] activates the bank
switch to whatever multisetup you send (0-63).

Note: I am assuming Sonar midi bank switching is the same as its been
for Sonar's ancestors.

80*128 = 10240 - so that's the bank as far as Sonar is concerned.

With multis be careful not to switch to a setup that doesn't receive
midi data. (This can happen if you scroll through the "presets" of
bank 10240.)

Tip: you can create an .ins file with the names of your multis. (Be
sure to update the names in Sonar when you change the names
internally.)

Hope this helps.

It does help and I'm all set now. This will make life a lot easier
(and safer) on stage.

thanks a lot,
