XL-7 USB drivers winXP

XL-7 USB drivers winXP

2004-05-28 by a l t e r n a t i v e

Hi,

I am completely new here! Have been making music with the PC for a few years, but decided to get me a CommandStation! The XL-7 that is ;-)

Now I have 1 not-so-simple question: HOW do I get the USB driver for the CommandStation on my XP system?

1. I installed the newest E-loader 1.1
2. I found the USB driver directory in the E-loader program folder

3. I switched on the XL without the USB cable
4. I put the USB cable between PC and XL....

now PC showed up an USB icon in the systray, and showed that another "unknown device" was connected via USB and that no driver was loaded for it. (So no install-hardware dialog)
If I try to remove the device from the device manager and scan for new devices, we get back to the USB icon showing up....

"Update driver" does not work :( I point windows to the E-loader\Emu USB Driver directory, but I only get a dialog box "This location does not contain any driver" though there are two .inf files in this folder.

Does anyone have a workaround or a tip for installing the USB driver?

Regards, Roel

NO USB? no usb at all? I mean, they GOT the driver, though they fail
to install in every way.... :( windows keeps telling me
the "location does not contain any information about your hardware"
I sent an email to EMU, who replied:

x For correct installation instructions please follow the step-by-
x step guide in the E-Loader Readme file (Start - Programs - E-
x Loader - ReadMe).

Not really an answer tho.. :( I will try it this weekend with a
complete new new fresh install (which I actually just did) and
follow the instructions ex-act-ly again to see what happens.

regards, roel

This guys spot on. If your trying to use the USB on the EMU itself,
why bother. The midi connections are always needed as well as the
sequencers USB port, the USB is just to speed it up, but theres no
real advantage. You still need to use the Midi connections no matter
what. Get a midisport and connect that to the USB on your computer,
then connect it to your Sequencer with midi cables and you should be

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
