Expansion ROMs cheap!

Expansion ROMs cheap!

2004-06-13 by quebec88

Hi Everyone,

Just noticed on EMU's website that they are blowing out the
remainder of the expansion ROM stock. I noticed that the link on
their website brings you to Soundfont.com. The ROMs are selling for
$59 or $69 dollars! Has anyone previously bought ROMs from
Soundfont. I'm thinking about buying a few of these before they sell
out, but I would like to know if anyone has bought ROMs from this
website.
It seems like a great deal.

I currently have a PX-7 with no expansion ROMs. I would like to get
the Beat Garden ROM first. I've heard some positive things about
that one. I'm also thinking about getting the MP7 ROM. I'm not sure
what other ROMs would be good for me. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

Here is what gear that I currently have to give you an idea about
what sounds I currently have access to.
E-mu PX-7
Korg Karma w/Concert Grand Piano expansion ROM
Korg Wavestation synthesizer
Yamaha An1x synthesizer

Thanks,
Domenic

Nice deals here. Does anyone know what the MK6 ROM is? Is it the same as the
MP7 ROM? That page actually shows the "Protozoa" ROM box, and I almost
ordered it by mistake. Never heard of a MK6 ROM.

I will be ordering the Beat Garden ROM also. It looks like the only quality
one left. I missed all the other deals.

Soundfont.com is fine, it's a Creative/EMU site.

I'm confused by this as well. Is the MK6 ROM the Protozoa ROM? Also,
is the Composer ROM the exact same as the Proteus Pop ROM? Please
help!

The MK6 ROM is the same as the MP7 ROM with the addition of an extra
bank (totalling 5 instead of 4). The composer ROM has the same samples
as the Pop ROM, but has 7 banks of presets instead of 4, though I tend
to like the presets on the Pop ROM *much* better. In case it's up
there, the XK6 ROM is to the XL7 ROM as the MK6 is to the MP7.

Thanks for all the info.

I just ordered the Beat Garden and MP7 ROMs. I'm now thinking about
getting the Composer ROM to fill the last bank in the PX-7.

I didn't want to pass these deals up!

Is MP7 ROM worth $60?

2004-06-15 by puzzlelounge

So, is the MP7 ROM worth $60? Does it stand the test of time? I
haven't seen any reviews of it in this forum.

I primarily make techno on my XL7, but I'm interested in alternate
sounds and drum kits.

Re: Is MP7 ROM worth $60?

2004-06-15 by dwoodaman

I have the pure phatt ROM, which is I believe the same as the MP7 ROM
- unless someone can correct me on this - and I like the drum kits
they have some clever routings for modulation and I think crisper
sounds than my XL7. The $60 is way better than what I paid for me.
Still, there is a lot of weird stuff in there I can't/won't use - I am
a guitar player, so all those samples are worthless to me, that and
the vocals too, worthless.
But still, for $60 bones....
