Assign a multi to a pattern

Assign a multi to a pattern

2004-12-20 by fatalojyxvsfacial

I've got one question for this group:
How can i associate the data of one multi ( fx arp bts sends ) to a
pattern in particular.
In fact what i want is that:
When i chain up 2 pattern which are associate to differents multi, i
want the multi of the second pattern will be remembered automatically
when i change the pattern.
Is that feature possible?
Thanks

Nope, I don't think you can do that. However, everything you woudl
typically store in a Multi is also stored in the Pattern, so what you are
trying to do my not be neccesary. What's the difference in your Multi's
that you need to switch with each Pattern?

I new that all features where able in a pattern but if I want to remember a master arpegiator or a bts it don't work ( if you create your own params of transpose in beat mode it could be cool to do that ).

So i will continue to work with your technic: recording bts or riffs with a midi cable and making my presets with the arp i want in.

Anyway I've never work in this way but i've heard it was possible by doing an insertion of program change at the beggining of the pattern ( I suppose it's in pattern edit in the events and the value to enter was :
prog: number of the multi
msb: 0
lsb: 80 )
But it don't work: the preset selected isn't remembered neitheir the multi.

It's not an handicap for me but it would be cool if this stuff were working.

Sorry for the english and nice sound with your xx7

Re: Assign a multi to a pattern

Multisetups can be called up as bank switch/program change
commands. You simply do a bank change where the MSB is 80 [CC00]
and the LSB is 00 [cc32] followed by a program change command to the
number of the multi you want to select. [It is in the e-mu manual.]

When using a software sequencer you can embed the bank switch and
program change commands in a track. I believe you can also do this
with e-mu's on-board sequencer.

WARNING: Be careful what the called multi is setup to do. Multis
change lotsa settings.

There may be other options for doing what you want. I am a big fan
of using a designated channel for FX! type presets--presets where
all the layers have 000:none for the instruments, but whose FX
settings are called on the fly with a program change to the
designated channel.

Also, if you call a multi with the bank switch method, the changes
may be abrupt, awkward, etc.

Hope this helps.

I don't have my gear here, but this is the method I was describing.
(I though the MBS was 80 and the LSB was 00, but I may have it
backwards.)

I think you should be able to do it using the event list editor.

T01 EVENT <-> 002.03.004
C01 prog: 14 m:80 l:00 [or the other way around]

[I wish I had my gear with me so I could test it out.]

Hope this helps.
