New OS impossible to load. Patience running low.

New OS impossible to load. Patience running low.

2002-02-05 by argomax2002

Tonite I went home with a Midiman Midisport 2x2 USB interface
from my store and tried to download into the MP7 this OS 1.18
which is supposed to open a world of wonders for this machine.
I have a new Mac IBook with OS 9.2.
I installed the E-loader and followed instructions. There is some
Midi activity coming from the MP7 into the interface, but nothing
happens with the E-Loader. All is still. Silent. Stiff like a corpse.
I've read somewhere that I should install Java. Well, in my cd
there is a MRJ installer that won't install, saying "YOU CAN'T
INSTALL MRJ ON THIS SYSTEM. EITHER RE-INSTALL THE
SYSTEM OR UPGRADE TO A NEWER VERSION OF TEC".
Tec? What's Tec? What other monster quest do I have to embark
on now?
Anybody has a clue? Im really getting bored.
Don't ask me to use a PC, like somebody said a few days ago. It
should work with a Mac. It should work always. Please. I am
tired.

the pain of comp%te£s. WHY CAN'T YOU MAKE IT EASY FOR US?

On the other hand, I just installed 1.18, using my old "Wallstreet"
PowerBook, running MacOS 8.6. Didn't have to install MRJ, and I suspect if
your E-loader was running to the point where you can detect MIDI with it,
then you're already past needing MRJ. Sounds like you've got it set up
correctly. Have you rebooted the Emu box in the "special" way, as
described in the E-Loader documentation?
