Thanx Scott. I actually had OMS already setup, but I uninstalled it,
re-installed it and run a new setup, and it worked. Probably the reason was
it was setup a long while ago for an Alesis QS7 and it stayed that way
without me noticing.
I'll dive into the new OS now and see what it does for me.

Thanks for your interest. I did however follow all instructions and
I did try to monitor any Midi activity from the E-Loader monitor
screen and the OMS too, anyhow the Midi interface has Leds too
that told me only the "calling" signal from the MP7 was
happening. The USB connection is fine because the Midiman
wouldn't be powered up otherwise, the Midi ins and outs too, the
OMS 2.3.x is there too, all is what was supposed to be...still no
action. I tried rebooting in several ways, launching E-Loader first,
launching it afterwards, whatever. On the OS download screen, it
lets me choose the file, choose the interface, but the last button,
"Download file to target" I think it's called, is inactive, and a line
underneath says "waiting for download request"... i assume
that's allright too. The MP7 says "searching for OS...
The Midi interface I got it from my store last nite brand new.
Any clue?

I use a MIDIsport 2x2 as well, no problems what so ever, so you can rule
the interface out. You selected the right MIDI ports in the E-loader?

OK, progress is being made. Next...

Note that E-Loader is no different than any other Application as far as
accessing MIDI. This is all standard configuration stuff for MIDI on the
Mac. Since it seems that have never used OMS before, I'm going to assume you
haven't configured it yet.

Even though OMS is installed, you still need to set it up to configure it to
see your MIDI interface and to install 'Devices'. You need to run the OMS
Setup Application to do this.

When first launched OMS Setup will ask you to do an automatic setup first to
create a 'setup document'. It will ask you if it should search on your Modem
and Printer ports for a MIDI interface. Since you have an iBook you don't
have a Modem or Printer port, so select neither and press OK. It will
realize that you have a USB interface and that will show up as a port icon.

You then need to add a New Device and connect it to your MIDI Sport
interface Icon. This represents the XL-7. Since XL-7 won't show up in the
available popup lists (it was developed long after OMS was developed) it
doesn't really matter what you pick. Selecting from the list is just a
shortcut for configuration you can do manually. Add a generic device and
call it whatever you want. Then connect it to the MIDISport Port icon by
dragging and dropping the Device Icon onto the MIDI Sport Icon. It will then
probably default to 'cable 1' of the MIDI sport, which is MIDISport A.

That device should now show up in E-Loader's choices of Input and Output
ports. Select it and try again. Let me know what happens.
