mp-7 with usb device

2005-08-11 by soscary00

I tried to connect my E-MU MP-7 drum machine to my laptop using a
Edirol USB - Audio interface, but all my laptop picked up was a low
static. I'm thinking that I need to send the MP-7 signal through a
stereo amplifier before it goes into the USB interface. I wish I
didn;t have to use a stereo amp b/c I don't got the $ to buy one. Do
you connect the drum machine to your laptops without using MIDI? I
wish I could send the MP-7 signal to my laptop through the HOST
connector that's on the back of the drum machine.

Levels out of the XX-7 are line levels and will so more than static on a
working input. Have you used your Edirol inputs before...are they
configured ok? And have you checked the output of the XX-7 and is the XX-7
volume pot turned up?

The Yamaha DJX works with the Edirol. I connected the DJX to my
laptop using the Edirol, so I expected it to be the same with the MP-
7. I know the MP-7 output works, b/c I connect headphones to the MP-
7 and I hear it.

Also, make sure you are using a TS (2 conductor) plug in the output of the
XX-7 it does not have balanced outs and the UA-25 (if you are using that
one) does.

I use the UA-1X and I'm connecting the xx-7 to the ua-1x with a
2RCA - 2 1/4 in. cable.
