Different Bar Lengths....

Different Bar Lengths....

2005-10-19 by xxduece4xx

okay, in a pattern... lets say that I want to make a 4 bar drum loop,
but an 8 bar melody... is there a way i can just play out the drums
for 4 bars, then have them repeat for the next 4 instead of having to
play them for the whole 8 my melody is going for?

help would be GREATLY appreciated here...

In my knowledge , you can 't it's not an rm1x groovemachine. You just have to copy the 4 bar of rythm and paste these 4 bars at bar 5.01 and so you will have an 8 bar pattern mesure so you can play you melodie through these 8 bars. It's possible I have missed something but this is the way i work ( in other hand you can play in loop your 4 bar of rythm in song mode and then play in real time your melodie but in song mode so... )

Hope that's help.

Hi
How about using the apeggiator? They can be a differant length to the
bar playing in the seq.
Just an idea

Yeah, that's one of the more requested features. You can't
individually loop tracks. You can, however, bypass copy/paste by using
the "extend sequence data" feature.

step 1: set the pattern length to the length of your rhythm (i.e. 4 in
your case)
step 2: choose "extend sequence data to" the desired length (8 in your
case)
step 3: select the tracks you want to extend and press enter

Quicker than copy/paste, as it's one function and can do multiple
tracks at a time.

Re: Different Bar Lengths....

WELL ... if you really really really want it precise - I do happen to
have an RM1x which will allow for that edit - so you would need to
render it to a midi for me and post it ... other than that I would
suggest coping or doing the extend mentioned by Arron only because when
you do things in realtime like that it allows for problems like memory
overloading which could cause skiping maybe digital cliping in software
ext ...- besides someone here said that they looped their emu to itself
to do something like that and it completely messed everything up - it
is a LOT of cc info and syseX data to loop through a processer
reguardless of how much memory the emu has or how fast it's processor
is on the emu ... then there is also the on board cache dilema - most
on board cache is only big enough to do what it needs to - since I am
not the one who designed the actual board I would love to know all the
different specs about it but that sort of information just isn't
available to me ... so I can't really give you an exact answer but hey
I try to help when I can -
