Flash SIMM

Flash SIMM

2006-11-06 by unlimbo

Does anyone know if there are any 'generic' Flash SIMMs useable in
E-MU command stations and/or Ultra samplers? Or could anyone tell me
the configuration/spec of the Flash SIMM ROMs that E-MU use? (I
imagine E-MU had someone else manufacture them for E-MU).
I want to buy an Ultra sampler to write Flash SIMMs for my command
station, but as E-MU no longer stock these, I need to find an
alternative. For example, routers use 16 & 32 Mb Flash SIMMs, has
anyone had any success using these in any E-MU product?
Many Thanks,
David Unlimbo.

Cisco Router flash SIMMs are the wrong physical size....too many pins/contacts on the edge.

I have looked myself as I have an Ultra sampler and several Emu ROM based units and have found at this point, only EMU Flash SIMMs work and have purchased 2 - 8MB versions over the last year on Ebay for about $100 but they are few and far between.......

E-mu did, in fact, design and manufacture the SIMMs. You will not find
one made by someone else that will work. (that is, unless they reverse
engineered the part and made clones).

Is there any chance E-MU could be convinced to release the
specifications for that part??

That is a good way to try it , but it doesn`t work ; I contacted the E-mu customer service super-team to get any solution ,so the super-wisers gave me just this info: EPRelectronics .this is the only thing that I know ,so look 4 that and have good luck !!
